About the founder

Louis Spector, CMT

Louis Spector serves as the Curriculum Director

for the CMT Association, where he led the

rewrite and launch of the 2025 digital curriculum

and is responsible for stewarding its evolution.

He also co-chairs the New York City Chapter,

helping to expand and strengthen the community

of technical analysts.

In addition, Louis works for a boutique wealth

management firm in Bergen County, New Jersey,

where he runs rules-based portfolios and serves

as the firm’s technician.

Louis developed his technical analysis expertise through years of deeply committed study and hands-on experience. Driven by a passionate curiosity and commitment to excellence, he spent countless hours studying the curriculum, reading source materials, consuming research, questioning expert practitioners, having his work critiqued, and analyzing hundreds of price charts every week. This led him to delve deeper into certain areas of interest such as statistics, behavioral finance, portfolio construction, and momentum investing. He continues to explore the boundaries of his knowledge by staying current with the latest technical analysis research and methods.

Louis holds a degree in both philosophy and music education, a Six Sigma Green-Belt certification from the New York Institute of Technology, a certificate in financial modeling using Microsoft Excel from New York University, and the prestigious Chartered Market Technician® (CMT) designation, which represents the most coveted technical analysis education worldwide.

Outside of work, Louis enjoys reading, spending time with friends, identifying types of trees, and synoptic-scale weather forecasting.
